New film screenings to open Sept. 12

September 11, 2025

The Cinema Art Theater announced screenings of “Clemente” and “The Baltimorons” will open Friday, Sept. 12, in Lewes.

“Clemente” is an immersive documentary about the remarkable life and legacy of the first high-profile Latino to play in Major League Baseball in the United States. The extraordinary career of baseball icon Roberto Clemente opened the door for generations of Latino baseball players to come. It is, however, Clemente’s remarkable life off the field that defined his legacy. Committed to uplifting society's marginalized and under-represented, he fearlessly fought for social justice and racial equality with steadfast resolve.

Proudly celebrating his Puerto Rican heritage, Clemente remained unwavering in his commitment to uphold his personal values and sense of self. His career and fame served as a platform to further amplify his life purpose dedicated to family, community and giving back. The tragedy of Clemente’s untimely death on a mission to deliver aid to the victims of the 1972 Nicaraguan earthquake shocked the world.

A romantic comedy, “The Baltimorons” tells the story of Cliff (Michael Strassner), a down-on-his luck comedian who can't catch a break. He chips a tooth and suddenly finds himself in the late-night care of Didi (Liz Larsen), a sharp-witted, no-nonsense dentist. What should have been a quick fix unfolds into an unforgettable night of unexpected twists, comic mishaps and a brewing heartfelt connection. The film is directed by Mark Duplass.
