The Eagles will try to continue their winning streak this week when they play against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. This game should be very competitive. I think the Eagles should be the slight favorite because the Chiefs have a player with a significant injury. That would be their talented second-year wide receiver Xavier Worthy. He might play, but he won't be 100%. They will also be missing another significant receiver, Rashee Rice, who is suspended for five games.
This will not be an easy victory for the Eagles because the Chiefs lost their first game against the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil. They will be extra motivated to beat the Eagles so they don’t go 0-2. Patrick Mahomes is an amazing quarterback and all-pro Chris Jones still plays on their defense.
On a side note, I want to see the Eagles include AJ Brown and Devonta Smith a lot more in the passing game to keep their offense moving.
The Phillies now have a 11-game lead over the New York Mets for the division title after a four-game sweep. This is the first time in September they have had a lead of 10 or more games lead since 2011. Those playoffs did not go well. The Phillies lost to the Cardinals in the divisional round of the playoffs in a 1-0 in Game 5. But that's enough negative talk. I’ve been surprised how the Mets have completely collapsed and given the division to the Phillies with no fight. As of June 12, the Mets had a five-game lead over the Phillies. The Phillies have made up 16 games on the Mets since then. Lately the Phillies pitching staff has completely dominated the Mets lineup, and the offense is knocking the ball all over the field, including Kyle Schwarber getting his 50th home run on the season. This makes him only the second Phillies player to ever hit 50 or more home runs in the season. Ryan Howard did it in 2006 when he hit 58 home runs on the way to his National League MVP. I don’t think Kyle is going to get 58 home runs. He might get 54 or 55.
The U.S. Open tennis tournament has come to its conclusion. On the men’s side, No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz was able to beat his rival, No. 1 seed Jannik Sinner pretty handily, even though the match went to four sets. It seems to me that Sinner was tired from the past two weeks of tough tennis. I believe these two are going to dominate men’s tennis for the next two years or so. They are both impressive to watch. On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus was able to outlast Amanda Anisimova of the U.S. in a tight two-set match 6-4, 7-6 to defend her championship. I had completely forgotten that Aryna won last year. It is very impressive to actually defend the championship.
