Volunteers complete 2025 work trips to Harbor of Refuge Light

September 26, 2025

The Delaware River and Bay Lighthouse Foundation recently conducted its final work trip of the calendar year to the Harbor of Refuge Light. Volunteers completely painted the exterior of the iconic black-and-white lighthouse that sits on the outer breakwater wall over the course of the summer.

Along with annual general maintenance, other projects also completed were sealing the dock surface, lantern room glass replacement, and a GPS unit installed by the Army Corps of Engineers to track structural movement of the lighthouse.

For the past 99 years, Harbor of Refuge Light has continued to provide an active aid to navigation for commercial and recreational mariners.

In November 2026, the lighthouse will celebrate its 100th anniversary.
