Coastal Concerts executive director to step down in 2026

The Coastal Concerts board of directors announced Executive Director Carol Dennis will be stepping down at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season after eight years of exemplary service.

Dennis’s tenure has been marked by visionary leadership, significant growth and an enduring commitment to advancing classical music in the community. She  has led the organization through a period of remarkable transformation. Her passion, innovation, creativity and dedication have driven meaningful progress that has strengthened both the organization and its connection to the community.

Among her achievements are implementation of a state-of-the-art electronic ticketing system that has greatly enhanced the patron experience by making it more efficient and user friendly; revamping and redesign of the organization’s website making it more accessible, informative and welcoming, enabling broader participation and deeper connections with audiences; and expansion of the volunteer ambassador program, which created more opportunities for engagement and established a vibrant, supportive network that furthers the organization’s mission every day. By initiating volunteer appreciation events and rebranding the volunteer program, Dennis attracted more volunteer ambassadors and cultivated a robust network of supporters who will carry the organization’s mission forward.

Fostering strong relationships was a hallmark of Dennis’s leadership. She regularly attended community events, forged partnerships with local businesses and cultural organizations, and promoted collaboration both within Coastal Concerts and with external partners.

Dennis’s impact extends far beyond these accomplishments. She has served as an inspiring leader, consistently placing the needs of patrons and the well-being of the organization at the forefront.

“Her legacy is defined by her passion,” said Lee April, board president. “Her integrity and unwavering dedication are qualities that will continue to shape Coastal Concerts for years to come. Under her guidance, the organization has deepened its roots in southern Delaware, and is poised for continued growth and service to the community. Coastal Concerts is grateful for Carol’s extraordinary contributions and for the strong infrastructure she has built.”

The Coastal Concerts board of directors will soon initiate the search for new leadership, and begin the recruitment and transition process.
