Milton Elementary shows spirit for intramural house challenge
Milton Elementary held its first house challenge of the year Sept. 24.
With everyone representing one of five houses including Safety (red), Responsibility (blue), Kindness (yellow), Creativity (purple) and Perseverance (green), students and staff in the building were tasked with showing off as much house spirit as they could. Colorful wigs, light-up necklaces, face paint, bright shirts and high socks could be seen all over the school.
Carrying clipboards for note-taking, judges from around the district were led on tours through each grade level by MES 5 Leadership team members. Judges then cast anonymous votes for those who showed the most house spirit.
Tallies were tight, but the House of Perseverance emerged as the winner. Students in grades K-5 who are part of the House of Perseverance each earned an additional 100 points in the race among the other houses.
At the end of the marking period, the team with the most points will earn a house party. In addition to the house challenges, students can regularly earn points for their teams by making safe and responsible choices, behaving with kindness, getting extra creative and working hard, and showing perseverance through problem-solving skills.
