DelDOT repaving in Dewey starting mid-October

All streets are owned by state
October 7, 2025

Starting about Wednesday, Oct. 15, the Delaware Department of Transportation will begin repaving all state-owned streets in Dewey Beach, starting in the north end of town and working south.

The project, which was originally scheduled for last fall but delayed numerous times due to DelDOT budget cuts, includes milling the old streets, leveling and repaving.

The affected streets include Bayard Avenue; Chesapeake Street between Bayard and King Charles avenues; the beach block of Jersey Street; Cullen and Chicago streets east of Bayard; the beach block of West Street; the blocks of Saint Louis Street, Houston Street, Clayton Street, Swedes Street, Saulsbury Street and New Orleans Street that are east of Bayard Avenue; Bellevue Street between Bayard and King Charles avenues; Dagsworthy Avenue; McKinley Avenue; Dover Road; Buena Road; Read Avenue; Rodney Avenue; Van Dyke Avenue east of Coastal Highway; and Collins Avenue.

Once DelDOT completes the repaving, the town will be repainting all fire hydrant areas, driveway markings and handicap parking spots.
