Dogfish Dash raises $109K to support open space conservation

October 3, 2025

The 2025 Dogfish Dash, an annual road race held at Dogfish Head Brewery in Milton, brought together more than 1,500 spirited participants, including 332 walkers and 1,244 runners, for a morning of fitness, fun and fundraising in support of the Sussex County Land Trust. Thanks to the generosity of Dogfish Head, sponsors, volunteers and participants, the event raised $109,000 to help preserve, protect and provide public access to open spaces across Sussex County.

Many dashers donned creative outfits made from bottle caps, cardboard, old beer cans and more to compete in the popular Recycled Costume Contest. Winners walked away with prizes ranging from Dogfish Head swag to private brewery tours and a beer dinner experience.

Beyond the finish line, the post-run party kept spirits high with a draft beer trailer, live activities from local partners and hydration courtesy of Open Water. Packet pickup events and crafting nights in the days leading up to the dash helped build momentum and community engagement.

“The Dogfish Dash is more than just a run; it’s a reflection of Dogfish Head’s deep-rooted commitment to community, creativity and conservation,” said Jason King, Dogfish Head social impact programs manager. “We’re incredibly proud to partner with the Sussex County Land Trust and rally our sponsors, volunteers and dashers to raise $109,000 for local land preservation. It’s about protecting the natural spaces that inspire us and ensuring future generations can continue to enjoy the off-centered beauty of Sussex County.”

From the Forest of Broadkill Preserve to Hudson Park, funds raised will help the Sussex County Land Trust continue its vital work, restoring trails, enhancing wildlife habitats and expanding public access to the great outdoors.
