LWV is committed providing to unbiased information

October 28, 2025

Thanks to 100WomenWhoCare for its grant of $10,000 to the League of Women Voters of Sussex County! The grant will be used to support the league’s ongoing efforts to preserve and sustain grassroots democracy here in Sussex County.

As an all-volunteer, nonpartisan organization, our local league organizes and conducts forums for candidates for county and state offices, promotes public engagement with elected officials, hosts expert speakers on local issues and provides voter information as well as registration.

In this time of intense division and misinformation, we are especially grateful for the funds to provide candidate forums, where residents can meet candidates face to face and hear direct answers to their questions, without interference of bias or misinterpretation. At league forums, the candidates explain different points of view without interrupting each other, shouting over each other or calling each other names. The league is committed to continuing the democratic tradition of civil discourse and respect for differences in all our programs.

We are truly grateful to the 100WomenWhoCare for its recognition of the pressing need to affirm and sustain the democratic system of government here at the local level. If government by the people is to survive and thrive, we the people all need to get involved!
