In recognition of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Cape Henlopen Elks 2540 of Lewes hosted more than 150 guests at a dinner to raise funds for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.
The Elks hall was transformed into a sea of pink with flags and banners throughout, holding messages of hope and encouragement for individuals and families in the fight against breast cancer.
The guest speaker was Meridith Rothstein, DBCC survivorship specialist. A breast cancer survivor who has bravely battled the disease for more than 13 years, Rothstein briefly described her experiences and what led her to become an active member of the coalition. As survivorship specialist, she works in many areas including being a facilitator in the financial assistance program. The coalition provides support, networking and education to women and men diagnosed with breast cancer.
Proceed from ticket sales and silent auction revenues resulted in a $2,500 donation for the breast cancer coalition.
