The Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge parking lot west of Lewes turned into a fanciful Halloween landscape for the second annual Trunk-or-Treat event for children.
A group of 11 fun and scary car trunks were decorated and stocked full of candy to pass out to youngsters. Elks mascot and special guest Elroy the Elk greeted children as they arrived and was available for many photo opportunities.
Children were encouraged to have photos taken while they sat on hay bales in the pumpkin field, and they had the opportunity to pick their favorite pumpkins to take home.
Ceci Futtelo cheerfully created balloon animals while Denny and Fran Shook handled the Drug Awareness Program display with fun and educational handouts for families.
About 40 volunteers came out to assist in the fun, including six teens who painted faces, applied temporary tattoos and helped wherever needed.
Thanks to the leadership of Betty Ann Kortlang, Elks Youth Activities chair, the community event was a grand success, with about 30 children and their families attending.
