Governor listened to SEDAC recommendations

November 14, 2025

Congratulations, Gov. Meyer, on taking the recommendation published in the March 2024 medical school feasibility study, commissioned by the Sussex Economic Development Action Committee, to establish a medical school by partnering with an existing medical school to create a branch campus in Delaware. Well done! I was fortunate to attend the press conference at Beebe Healthcare Nov. 12, and my sense of the collaboration and energy around this initiative was exciting. This is great news for our state.

I encourage the administration to consider additional SEDAC study recommendations and to engage with the existing healthcare systems in Sussex County – namely, Bayhealth, Beebe and TidalHealth Nanticoke – to serve as clinical campuses and to locate the medical school in rural Sussex County. This would be the most effective way to meet the needs of underserved populations and leverage Rural Health Transformation Funding.

I also want to thank my fellow SEDAC members who supported this initiative back in 2022 and ultimately agreed to commission the feasibility study.

And to my fellow Beebe board members and colleagues, help is on the way!

Thank you, Governor.
