Three centenarians celebrate together for Georgetown man’s 100th birthday

December 4, 2025

A remarkable celebration was held Nov. 2 at the Millsboro Fire Hall banquet room as Samuel W. Warrington of Georgetown marked his 100th birthday. He was surrounded by more than 110 family and friends who gathered to honor his century of life.

What made the occasion especially meaningful was the presence of two of Sam’s dear friends: Preston Rogers of Milton, who turned 100 in August, and Mary Rogers of Georgetown, who celebrated her 100th birthday in September.

When Warrington learned that a party was being planned in his honor, he made one heartfelt request – he didn’t want to be “the only old person there.” His wish was fulfilled, creating a rare and heartwarming gathering of three centenarians.

Sam and Mary share an especially long and meaningful bond, having started first grade together in 1931 at Millsboro Public School. Sam and Preston have been friends for 60 years through their longtime involvement in the Masonic Lodge, a connection that has strengthened into a lasting friendship over the decades.

The afternoon was filled with laughter, shared memories and stories that spanned generations as guests honored not only Sam’s milestone but the extraordinary relationships among these three remarkable individuals. Their presence together served as a testament to enduring friendship, resilience and the richness of a life well lived.
