As a spectator of last weekend's annual Lewes Christmas Parade, I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who helped make it such a wonderful event. It is a true highlight of the season, bringing together neighbors, families and friends to celebrate the spirit of the holidays.
From the City of Lewes, the chamber of commerce, volunteers, police and fire-and-rescue teams who planned for the safety and success of the parade, to the street-sweeper crews who cleaned up so swiftly afterward, your behind-the-scenes work is immensely appreciated. And to the businesses along the parade route that offered free cocoa and even created realistic snow flurries, you are the heartbeat of this town, and your commitment to making our holiday celebrations special did not go unnoticed.
Finally, to each parade participant – and to the parents who helped so many kiddos craft those adorable boats and floats – thank you for an incredible display of creativity, joy and community pride. You are what makes Lewes shine bright the entire year. Thank you for your enthusiasm and for bringing us together, reminding us of the common ground we share in calling this place home.
The joy and spirit of the crowd were unmistakable in all the best ways, and the authentic small-town charm of the parade is something no Hallmark Christmas movie could ever truly capture. Happy holidays!
