Matt Haley's Global Delaware Fund and Good Earth Market raise funds for Justin Jennings House

Matt Haley's Global Delaware Fund partnered once again with Good Earth Market June 19 for their recurring series of "Farm-to-Table" dinners, this time raising more than $3,000 for Justin's Beach House.
The event began with a sunset cocktail hour in the Good Earth gardens featuring wines from Southern Wine & Spirits and passed hors d'oeuvres by Plate Catering Chef Jen Blakeman such as deviled eggs with bluefish salad, radish and green apple, and country pate on crostini with sweet pickles.
Ninety guests were then seated in the midst of Owner Sue Ryan's pastoral landscape at one long table, adorned in all white with candles and mason jar floral vases, and served a multi-course farm-fresh meal. Courses included a mixed green salad, with strawberries, almonds, and goat cheese dressed in strawberry vinaigrette, grilled swordfish with lemon and freshly picked sage and lavender served over mixed summer vegetables and a carrot-zucchini cake topped with allspice pecans and sweet figs and berries.
"This event is special to us because it is true representation of farm to table movement - producing food locally and delivering that food to local consumers," said director for Plate Catering Molly King. "Our event takes it one step further with proceeds from the event benefiting a local charity. The Justin W. Jennings Foundation was a great choice for our June dinner."
The Justin W. Jennings Foundation was formed in memory of Justin who lost his battle with brain cancer in 2000. The foundation began to build a home in the Bethany Beach area where families suffering from the burdens of cancer can come to enjoy the joys and peace of the shore, reminiscent of Justin's last experiences at the beach.
In 2005, Justin's Beach House was completed. The vision of the charity is to provide full funding for the operation of the beach house and to build more homes, in time. For more information, go to www.justinjennings.org.
The farm-to-table dinners at Good Earth Market are a new tradition designed to provide a farm-fresh dining experience set in the idyllic environment where the food was grown while fundraising for local charities. These events occur twice a year, in June and September, and charities selected by the hosts. For further information on this event, contact Ryan at 302-537-7100.
The Global Delaware Fund was formed in January 2011 with the goal of administering goods and services to at risk children and to those in distressing situations, locally and internationally. Aid provided includes food, clothing, and shelter as well as counseling, scholarships, and educational grants.
By way of a hands-on approach, Global Delaware aims to create long-term sustainability for entire communities in need. For further information, go to www.theglobaldelawarefund.com.
