William F. Horn, successful architect

William F. “Fred” Horn, 71, of Lewes, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026. He was born Aug. 5, 1954, in Lancaster, Pa., son of the late William F. Horn and Hazel I. (Shuman) Horn Ciccone. Fred was the beloved husband of Patricia A. Horn; they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary Jan. 11.

Fred was a successful architect. Becoming a licensed architect in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1992 while working for the HSMM Architectural firm in Virginia Beach, Va. In 1994, he moved to Delaware, where he worked for BM2OR in Salisbury, Md. During that time, he became a registered architect in the states of Maryland and Delaware. In 1997, he became an entrepreneur and started his own firm, W. F. Horn Architect Inc., which was very successful for 28 years.

Fred was a 32nd degree York Rite Mason and an active member of Jefferson Lodge No. 15 A.F. & A.M. in Lewes. Fred was also a past commander of the Knights Templar at Saint Andrews Commandry No. 2 in Dover.

Fred found joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending races and car shows. His favorites were the Daytona 500, the Monster Mile at Dover, the Daytona Turkey Run car show, and the Sebring 12-hour race. Fred enjoyed spending his vacations in Florida.

Fred leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Horn; his children, Michael Horn and his wife Tammy of Laurel, Daniel Horn and his wife Erica of Milton, and Denise Thornton and her husband Jason of St. Augustine, Fla.; his grandchildren, Cameron Horn, Tyler Horn, Kayla Horn, Maddox Horn and her wife Sara, Brittany Thornton, Michael Horn, Shane Thornton and Blake Horn; his mother, Hazel I. Ciccone; his brother, John Alexander; and his sister, Jennifer Horn Lovell.

Funeral & Masonic Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 14, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
