New Cape-branded water highlights student-athletes

Revenue to benefit Cape sports teams, Child Nutrition Services
February 25, 2026

The Cape Henlopen School District’s Child Nutrition Services recently debuted a new Cape-branded canned alkaline water product, distributing prototypes at a Jan. 22 school board meeting.

“We believe this initiative is a great opportunity to connect with our students, offer a refreshing beverage option, and recognize the dedication and hard work of our student-athletes,” said CNS Supervisor Stacy Davis-Smith.

The cans read “Cape Vikings Football” in baby blue and yellow font and feature a Vikings logo superimposed onto a black background. On the back is the high school football team roster and a list of the coaching staff.

The CNS department has already put orders in for winter and spring sports teams too, with each customized to feature the respective sport, team roster and coaching staff.

The cans are sold for $5 during the active sports season, and after the season concludes, the price is reduced to $3.75.

They will be available in the district’s middle and high school vending machines, in the lunch lines and at sports games, as requested by its booster organizations. During the school day, sales through the lunch program and vending machines support the School Nutrition Program’s revenue account.

During sports seasons, the drinks are also offered to booster organizations at a discounted rate, allowing them to resell the product at games and events. Proceeds from those sales directly benefit the respective sports programs.

Orders can be placed by calling the CNS office at (302) 645-1442 or contacting the cafeteria directly.
