Cape JV girls’ basketball finishes undefeated

February 19, 2026

The Cape girls’ basketball junior varsity team went into the 2025-26 season with the pressure of living up to powerful teams of the past. The girls kept the legacy alive with an unblemished 16-0 record.

The Vikings’ last loss was Jan. 5, 2023, against Ursuline. They have won 57 straight games.

“Starting this season was nerve-wracking with a lot of moving pieces and new faces,” said Cape JV coach Carlin Quinn. “Coaching these girls this season taught me a lot as a coach. I was hard on them, but they took every lesson in stride and made me proud every game with their accomplishments. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of girls to go undefeated with.”

Maggie May led the Vikings with 18 points, while Laura Lima garnered 16 in a 56-30 win over Dover in the final game of the season.

“Three undefeated seasons in a row wasn’t luck, but effort put in at practice, and those girls showing up every day to learn and get better,” said Quinn. “Even the girls who don’t play basketball as their main sport always want to do better than the day before, and that’s all a coach can ask for. I wasn’t just their coach, I was also their biggest fan.”
