Cape Henlopen School District marks National School Social Work Week

March 28, 2026

Joining schools across the country, Cape Henlopen School District recognized and celebrated National School Social Work Week March 1-7.

This week offers an opportunity for schools, districts, communities and partners to recognize and celebrate the essential role school social workers play in supporting students, families and school communities.

“During National School Social Work Week, we proudly recognize the extraordinary impact our school social workers have on the students and families at Cape,” said Dr. Jenny Nauman, district superintendent. “Their unwavering commitment to supporting every student in every classroom academically, socially and emotionally strengthens the very foundation of our schools. Every day, they serve as advocates, collaborators and connectors, ensuring that students have the resources and support they need to thrive.”

Cape Henlopen schools have nine dedicated social workers on staff, ensuring that students and families have direct access to critical social-emotional support and community resources. By embedding social workers in schools, the district reinforces its commitment to supporting the whole child and removing barriers to learning so all students can thrive.

Led by the School Social Work Association of America, this annual celebration highlights the vital contributions of school social workers, including their focus on supporting the whole child, connecting families to community resources, serving as key members of multidisciplinary school teams and advocating for equitable practices that promote student success.

The 2026 theme, Unite to Ignite: Celebrating Our Impact, honors the collective strength, dedication and passion of school social workers nationwide. Throughout the school year, school social workers navigate complex challenges and rising student needs with resilience and compassion. By uniting students, families, educators and communities, they ignite positive change and help create supportive environments where all students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
