Six friends from Rehoboth Beach, Milton and Fenwick Island attended a ballet at Milan’s historic La Scala opera house, bringing their Gazette along. The paper, held by Ellen Roney Hughes, was photographed outside the iconic venue before the performance. Vincent Varrassi, Paul Wilson, Colleen Wilson, Irene Paonessa and Paula Varrassi spent two weeks in Italy, first cruising the country, then exploring northern Italy. Their final week was spent at a villa on Lake Como. Using the lake’s excellent ferry system, they visited quaint towns, enjoyed local restaurants, toured historic sites and explored beautiful villas. A highlight was Bellagio, “the Pearl of Lake Como,” a stop they say should not be missed. Spectacular lake views, charming towns and the majestic Dolomites made the region a memorable finale to their trip.
