Longtime employee rises to vice president at Community Bank Delaware
Community Bank Delaware recently announced the promotion of Dave Van Pelt to the position of vice president.
Van Pelt joined the bank in 2016 as the Lewes branch manager and was promoted to assistant vice president and lender in 2021. Van Pelt has been an integral part of the bank’s continued growth and commitment to exceptional customer service.
“We are proud to see Dave step into the role of vice president and are confident he will continue to serve customers across Sussex County with the same dedication and expertise that has defined his work from the start.” said President Jack Riddle.
A lifelong Sussex County resident, Van Pelt is a graduate of Cape Henlopen High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Delaware. Van Pelt began his banking career at Mellon Bank in Lewes, where he developed a strong foundation in retail banking and customer relationship management.

I grew up and built my career in Lewes and am committed to carrying forward our mission of supporting our customers and the community,” said Van Pelt. He is based in the Lewes branch located at 16982 Kings Highway.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Van Pelt remains actively involved in the community. He currently serves on the finance committee for Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown, where he contributes his financial knowledge.
Van Pelt enjoys playing golf, tennis and pickleball, and resides in Georgetown with his wife Pam, and sons Nathan and Jeremy.
