March 27, 2026

Sussex Academy, in partnership with Speak Out Against Hate, will host a free screening and discussion of the documentary, “Childhood 2.0: The Living Experiment,” at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 16, at 21150 Airport Road, Georgetown.

“Childhood 2.0” explores what it’s like to grow up in the digital age, and how smartphones, social media and constant connectivity are shaping the lives of students today.

Through candid interviews with teenagers across the United States, the film highlights online pressures such as social comparison, cyberbullying, gaming, and the impact of digital life on mental health and relationships. The documentary encourages thoughtful conversations about healthy technology use and understanding the digital experiences of young people.

Those planning to attend should note that the film is not yet rated, and it may include material inappropriate for children under 13, including sensitive topics like mental health challenges, online harassment and exposure to inappropriate content. Viewer discretion is advised.

To support families attending with children, Sussex Academy student volunteers will provide a supervised space and activities for younger students while parents and older children attend the screening.

To ensure adequate accommodations and refreshments, RSVPS are due by Friday, April 10, at sussexacademy.org.

Sussex Academy is a tuition-free, public charter K-12 school in Georgetown. Its mission is to create a supportive school environment with accelerated learning opportunities that prepare students to explore, experience and excel.
