Milton Elementary School was filled with energy, excitement and plenty of friendly competition March 25, as students in all grade levels participated in a school-wide house challenge.
Students competed in dodgeball games, facing off against teams made up of teachers, staff members, school resource officers and representatives from Delaware State Police and Milton Police Department. The event brought together the entire school community for a day focused on teamwork, school spirit and positive connections.
Held each marking period, the intramural house challenges are part of Milton Elementary’s ongoing effort to build a strong sense of belonging and camaraderie among students and staff. Organized through the school’s house system, the competitions encourage students to support one another, demonstrate good sportsmanship and take pride in their teams.
Laughter and cheers echoed through the gym as students welcomed their competitors and eagerly took the court, determined to outplay their adult opponents. While the dodgeball matchups were competitive, the primary goal of the day was to foster relationships, create lasting memories, and of course, earn house points.
“Our house challenge is a perfect example of what makes Milton Elementary so special,” said Jason Scott, Milton Elementary assistant principal. “It’s not just about friendly competition; it’s about building relationships, strengthening our school community, and giving students the chance to connect with staff and local law enforcement in a positive, memorable way. Seeing the smiles, teamwork and sportsmanship on display throughout the day was truly incredible.”
The involvement of local law enforcement added an extra level of excitement for students while also reinforcing positive community partnerships. Events like this provide valuable opportunities for students to interact with officers in a fun and supportive environment.
