The Dewey Beach Civic League recently welcomed Todd Hawk as its newest board member.
Hawk grew up going to Dewey Beach and spent summers living in his grandparents’ cottage, which they bought in 1941. He has fond memories of those summers spent skimboarding, waterskiing and working at local staples like JJ’s Corner Market (now Izzy Plaza), the Waterfront (now Northbeach) and Fran O’Brien’s (now Stingray).
Hawk graduated from Wake Forest University and started his career on Wall Street in New York City with firms like Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank, before starting his own business on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. He is a co-founder of the financial technology firm Algorithmic Trading Management, and the founder and CEO of Elisa for Life, a life insurance technology company.
He volunteers with City Tutors, where he spends time as a tutor and mentor, and is on the board of directors. He brings to his new role a long personal and family history with Dewey Beach and has been a full-time resident for over 10 years.
“I love and am very proud of this town, and I am excited to get more involved in any way that benefits Dewey Beach, its residents and its standing in the community,” Hawk said.
