Sheila Bravo appointed as chief philanthropy officer of Beebe Medical Foundation
Beebe Healthcare recently announced that Sheila Bravo will join the organization as senior vice president, chief philanthropy officer for Beebe Medical Foundation effective Monday, May 4.
Bravo is a highly respected nonprofit executive and statewide leader with extensive experience in governance, philanthropy and cross‑sector collaboration. She most recently served as president and CEO of DANA, Delaware’s statewide nonprofit membership association representing more than 500 nonprofits, foundations, businesses, faith organizations and public‑sector partners.
“Sheila brings a deep understanding of governance, philanthropy and community partnership,” said Khalil Saliba, Beebe Medical Foundation board chair. “Her experience working at a statewide level and her collaborative leadership approach will be instrumental as Beebe continues to strengthen its health system and philanthropic strategy.”
During her tenure at DANA, Bravo worked closely with boards of directors, philanthropic leaders, healthcare organizations and government partners across the state to strengthen governance, advance public policy and expand organizational capacity throughout the nonprofit sector. She joined DANA in 2015 after serving as executive director of the Rehoboth Art League, and previously provided board training, strategic planning and consulting services to nonprofit and community organizations.
“Philanthropy plays a critical role in helping Beebe meet the evolving needs of our community,” said David A. Tam, MD, MBA, CPHE, FACHE, Beebe Healthcare president and CEO. “Sheila’s background, perspective and leadership experience position her well to build on the strong foundation team already in place and to support Beebe’s continued transformation across care delivery, population health and community impact.”
Bravo joins Beebe at a moment of strength. Following the successful completion of Sussex Supports Beebe Healthcare, the largest campaign in the organization’s history, Beebe Healthcare and the Beebe Medical Foundation are well positioned to build on a strong philanthropic foundation while responding to growing healthcare complexity, population growth and expanded community health needs across Sussex County.
Bravo serves on the board of the National Council of Nonprofits as treasurer, is president‑elect of the Rotary Club of Wilmington, and is a member of the Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council. She holds a PhD in organizational leadership, specializing in nonprofit governance, from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore; an MBA in international business from the Thunderbird School of Global Management; and a BS in business and languages from Millersville University.
“I’m honored to join Beebe Healthcare at such a meaningful time,” Bravo said. “This community’s generosity and belief in Beebe’s mission – demonstrated through landmark campaigns and long‑standing donor support – are extraordinary. I look forward to listening, learning and working alongside donors, partners and Beebe teams to build on a strong foundation and advance community health across Sussex County.”
