We Clean Green features safe, eco-friendly service

Company says it gets the dirty work done with safe products and appliances

When Mihaela Filipova and Boyko Boykov arrived in Rehoboth Beach two years ago, they said they were astounded by the harsh chemicals commonly used for cleaning in the United States.

They established a cleaning company to clean commercially for area real estate companies, but they said they suffered from blistering and peeling on their hands when certain cleaning chemicals would touch their skin.

It soon became too much, Filipova said.  The pair, friends who traveled together from Eastern Europe, in April decided to open their own business, We Clean Green LLC. The new company uses techniques the owners used for all-natural cleaning in Europe.

"Most chemicals that other companies are using, they are forbidden in Europe," she said. "They cause cancer or other problems with your liver. All the products we use are certified. Even the bleach is green. Everything is green."

The business uses only eco-friendly commercial cleaning products, and their vacuum removes not only dirt in the carpets, but some of the dust and toxins in the air are actually removed, not spread around, Filipova said.

"We are a unique service in this area," Boykov said. "We use a vacuum cleaner that is much different than others.”

Whereas most conventional vacuum cleaners pull dirt and dust off surfaces by drawing in air, often kicking up debris in the process, We Clean Green office manager Sixta Lopez said the company uses a special vacuum that cleans using water, thereby trapping dust and dirt particles for disposal.

“This vacuum contains a water filtration system that filters the air while it vacuums. Everything gets trapped and when they are done, it is unbelievable,” Lopez said. “I’ve had asthma my whole life, and with this vacuum we can clean the walls, carpet, pillowcases, curtains, hardwood flooring. You see it lifting off the dirt from the walls and staying stuck in the vacuum.”

The model they use at We Clean Green, she said, helps with allergies and is even approved by the American Lung Association.

Filipova said using safe products and appliances is also healthier for the planet and future generations. For Lopez, who is currently pregnant, that concern is growing with every passing day.

“I’m pregnant right now, so I can’t really work and bend down to clean,” she said. “I still have to clean at home, though, and my doctor told me I have to use green products not only for my health, but the health of my baby.”
