Art for a Purpose Gallery reopens Oct. 6 with Shore Things exhibit

Reception from 3 to 5 p.m. is open to the public
October 5, 2012

Art for A Purpose, a Midge Smith Fine Art Gallery in Lewes, is reopening after a monthlong closure with a show titled Shore Things. The show’s emphasis will be on artists who reside near the shore and works whose subject matter illustrates some aspect of shore living.

Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty is sponsoring a wine reception to celebrate the new show. The reception is free and open to the public from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at two locations: the gallery at 135 Second St. to see Shore Things and also the Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s office at 102 Savannah Road to view an array of paintings from circa 1900. These old paintings have very heavy, handmade, ornate frames that lend them an air of the old Dutch masters’ work.

The Gallery is at 135 Second St., second floor, in Lewes.  Hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Visit the Ocean Atlantic office at 102 Savannah Road for a self-guided tour at any time from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday.
