Justin Harbold joins Rehoboth Beach Motor Cars team
Coming to the beach was just what the doctor ordered for Justin Harbold.
After eight years as a general sales manager in Lancaster, Pa., Harbold was looking for a change, which came in the form of Rehoboth Beach Motor Cars owners Matt and Rena Salem.
“It was kind of love at first sight,” Harbold said. “It was the perfect opportunity for me.”
Retired former owner of Lee F. Slaughter Fine Cars Mark Slaughter said he was impressed that Harbold became a general sales manager at 24, a rare thing for someone so young.
“When you’ve been around for years, you just know that this guy you’re talking to gets it,” he said. “Very seldom do you see someone who can do it at an early age.”
Harbold, 32, said he was looking for a position that would allow him to do what he likes: interact with customers and show cars, while not managing 100 employees, as he had at his previous position at a Lancaster Kia dealership.
“Here we get to sell cars people like and want,” he said. “These are cars people like and have a passion for. It’s fun. It’s selling fun.”
Originally from York, Pa., Harbold said he, his wife, Megan, and chocolate schnauzer, Reggie, wanted to live at the beach and start a family. He said it took a while for them to decide to make the move, but Harbold is glad they did.
Slaughter said, “It’s kind like when someone marries into your family.”
“It’s perfect,” Harbold said. “The reputation of this place is, you’re not only making customers but you’re making friends. And that’s what I love about this business."
