Is it science? Writing? Art? The answer is all of the above!
Carole Short’s second-grade class at Shields Elementary School spent one week on a cross-curricular project that showed their understanding of insects.
Each student wrote a poem using descriptive words and phrases that show knowledge of some six-legged friends. Next, the black glue/watercolor creations of anatomically correct insects were undertaken.
Each student’s poem was attached to his or her unique watercolor insect. Their works are now showing in Shields School hallways.
