Whether everyone has been naughty or nice this year, during the month of December, if Lewes area residents happen to hear sirens or Christmas music near their home, they may want to look outside and see if Jolly Old Saint Nick is riding though the neighborhood.
Members of the Lewes Fire Department will be proudly carrying Santa Claus on top of the fire engine through as many neighborhoods as possible during the next month. “Santa in the Hood” dates and times are listed below. Just remember it will be cold and Santa and his elves will be out for approximately three hours each evening. Dates and times may change according to weather so go to www.lewesfire.com for updated information.
Below is a tentative schedule of areas and the dates (weather permitting since Rudolph will not be pulling the old rotund guy around). Approximate time each night will be 6 to 9 p.m.
• Thursday, Dec. 5: areas encompassing those neighborhoods adjacent to the east side of Plantation Road and Route 1 between Dartmouth Drive and Route 24 neighborhoods of
• Tuesday, Dec. 10: areas encompassing those neighborhoods adjacent to the north side of Route 24 and Route 9 east of Cool Spring Road and west of Plantation Road
• Thursday, Dec. 12: areas encompassing those neighborhoods adjacent to the north side of Route 9 and south of Eagles Crest Road, east of Hudson Road, including those areas of Route 1 to the Nassau Bridge.
Thursday, Dec. 19: areas encompassing those neighborhoods adjacent to New Road, the City of Lewes and those neighborhoods east of Route 1, including Kings Highway and Clay Road.
Please understand that not all neighborhoods and streets in a neighborhood will be included for many reasons. Santa and his elves will do their best to bring joy to each neighborhood but if they don’t make it to a particular neighborhood please understand that this has no bearing on whether residents were naughty or nice this year!
