Mervyn C. Fullmer, retired carpenter

Mervyn C. Fullmer, 93, of Millsboro, formerly of Springfield, Delaware County, Pa., went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

"Merv" was born in Chester, Pa., March 16, 1921, son of the late Charles and Gladys (Hinkle) Fullmer. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943-46.

Mr. Fullmer retired in 1983 as a construction superintendent with Carson Concrete Company for the Carpenters Union No. 1595 in Philadelphia, Pa. Merv was a Freemason with the George Bartram-Paul Sand Lodge No. 298 in Springfield, two-term past commander of VFW Post 3460 in Media, Pa., and a member of American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro. He was also the past treasurer of the United States Power Squadron in Millsboro, a member of the Indian River Yacht Club, served on the architectural committee of Warwick Park and was a member of St. George's Chapel in Harbeson.

Merv was an avid bowler, enjoyed working on his automobiles, fishing and boating. His true passion was working in his wood shop to create exquisite pieces of furniture and crafts. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacqueline Ann Fullmer, in 1966. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Winifred M. Fullmer; a son, Chuck Fullmer and his wife MaryEllen of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Sean Fullmer and his wife Allyson of Glenside, Pa., Megan Fullmer of Georgetown and Christopher Fullmer, who is currently stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C.; and a sister, Leota Hurd of Baltimore, Md.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, Nov. 8, at St. George's Chapel, 20274 Beaver Dam Road, Harbeson. Interment with military honors will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Mervyn's name to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
