Utility workers on Savannah Road repair line break

December 3, 2014

Crews working to fix a damaged phone line in the Quakertown area of Savannah Road are expected to be done their work and gone from the site by early afternoon Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Lee Gierczynski, Verizon media relations, said a subcontractor was doing underground work and accidentally nicked a copper phone line. He said 50 to 60 phone lines were out of service, but as of 11 a.m. this morning most if not all lines had been reconnected.

Vehicles from Verizon and Danella line services had been working on the problem for more than 24 hours. Early Tuesday morning, bright lights and a tent against the morning rain supported utility workers working in a trench.
