Elizabeth M. Tyler, had financial career

Elizabeth M. Tyler, 90, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015. at the Salisbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her loving family at her side.

Elizabeth was born Feb. 18, 1924, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Enyedi) Fenessy, industrious and talented Hungarian immigrants. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Ernest Leon Tyler in 2007. She was also preceded in death by all of her older brothers, John Fenessy, Steven Fenessy, Joseph Fenessy and George Fenessy.

Elizabeth served as private first class in the WAC division as secretary to Cavalry Colonel Charles B. Hazeltine at Fort Meade, Md. during World War II where she met the love of her life, Tech Sergeant Major Ernest Leon Tyler. They married and were honorably discharged from the Army following their years of dedicated service.

They spent their early years of marriage designing and building their own home in Glen Mills, Pa., using her father's architectural rendering. Elizabeth then embarked on a 37-year career at the Elwyn Institute in Elwyn, Pa. where she worked in various capacities in the finance department.

She was a knowledgeable and avid gardener and an accomplished seamstress, also being expert at knitting and crocheting. She was a collector of fine European crystal and Hummels and shared an interest with her late husband in collecting LGB model trains, for which they created intricate displays of their own design.

She is survived by her only son, Ernest R. Tyler of Fenwick Island and his wife Denise; five grandchildren: Elisa Tyler, Justin Tyler, Jason Tyler and his wife April, Tara Ott and her husband Gregory, and Tracey Iverson and her husband Gary; and seven great-grandchildren: Gavin Tyler, Gianna Tyler, Jaylen Tyler, Gabrielle Ott, Keegan Ott, Jessica Iverson and Kiley Iverson.

A visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Interment will be at a later date.
