Graceful Aging group to meet Thursdays in Rehoboth
Westminster Presbyterian Church is initiating a new group for seniors, Graceful Aging. The group, which began Jan. 22, will meet weekly on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. in the downstairs library at the church. Westminster is on the corner of Laurel Street and King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach.
It is designated a support group because one purpose is for participants to lend support to each other as they age together. It is also an exploratory group that will seek to uncover the worries and concerns about aging that participants hold. Discovering thoughts, ideas, and solutions to those concerns will be covered.
The group is for anyone of any faith, belief or religion. It is for men and women alike. It is for still-young people who wonder why AARP is contacting them. It is for those concerned about the issues their parents are facing and suddenly realizing that they themselves have become the parents. It is for individuals who do not feel old at all but who, on reflection, discover they actually are getting older.
In society today there is limited opportunity for seniors to share daily, often mundane problems. The current senior generation is the first to so massively become older. Gerontology is a relatively new science. Doctors are continually learning. There are few guidelines to follow. This group is envisioned to help participants plot their way.
Those interested are welcome to attend any week they can make it. For information, contact Faith Duncan 302-227-0887 or culevine@verizon.net or call the church office 302-227-2109.
