Tomas Aponte Espinal, retired dentist

Dr. Tomas Elpidio Aponte Espinal, 85, of Lewes, passed away peacefully in his sleep to be with our Lord Jesus Christ Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at his home. He was born March 7, 1929, in Santiago, Dominican Republic, son of the late Elpidio Aponte and Marta Sofia Espinal.

Dr. Aponte Espinal was a faithful, loving and peaceful man who lived a righteous life. He was always committed to his adored late wife, Ligia de Aponte, his children and his work as a dentist. He was a very humble person who will leave behind a legacy of exemplary life.

Dr. Aponte Espinal was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and a dear friend who will be remembered for his kindness and generous heart. He will be forever loved by his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Lourdes Aponte; his son, Dr. Jose Aponte; three grandchildren, Laureen, Daniel and Maria Elena, his two brothers, Francisco Aponte and Jose Gabriel Aponte; and three sisters, Mary Bertrand, Altagracia Russo and Elena Aponte.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Feb, 7, at 1 p.m., at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may call beginning at noon. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dr. Aponte Espinal's memory to St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
