The British invaded Lewes May 2, as more than 100 of unique and lavish vehicles were attracted to the Lewes Historical Society complex for the 20th annual British Motorcar Show. Winners were selected by a popular vote of show attendees. Rolls Royce and Bentley were the featured marque.

This year’s event attracted 106 preregistered cars and nine cars registered on the day of the show. Attendance at the event was one of the best in years with more than 1,100 people, as there was no hint of British weather.

Following an announcement of winners, the top three cars in each category led a parade down Savannah Road and Second Street.

The following cars were selected as the winners:

Best in Show

1953 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith Tour Limo, Steven Sokoloff, Ardmore, Pa.

Category I 1956 or older

First place - 1927 Austin Seven Chummy, Jeanie Cassidy, Exton, Pa.

Second place - 1954 Jaguar XK120, Rick Wolfinger, Stevensville, Md.

Third place - 1955 Austin Healy 100, Todd Emeigh, Seaford

Category II 1957 to 1962

First place - 1962 Austin Healey 3000 MKII, Mike Tyler, Lewes

Second place - 1959 MG MGA, Mark McCarraher, Boyertown, Pa.

Third place - 1958 MGA Roadster, Eric Sundberg, Dorothy, N.J.

Category III 1963 to 1968

First place - 1966 Morgan 4X4, Jerry Hirst, Rehoboth Beach

Second place - 1966 Jaguar 3.8 S, Susan Quarles, Mt. Airy, Md.

Third place - 1967 Marcos 1600 GT, David and De Mensh, Gaithersburg, Md.

Category IV 1969 to 1974

First place - 1971 Morgan Plus 8, Fred and Connie Schuchard, Bridgeton, N.J.

Category VI 1981 to 2000

First place - 1995 Morgan Plus 8, Leonard Claudins, Ocean Pines, Md.

Second place - 1997 Jaguar XK8, Sheree Richnow, West Chester, Pa.

Third place - 1983 Delorean DMC12, Judy and Steve Matthews, Richmond, Va.
