Register by Sept. 19 for charity tennis tourney at Sea Colony

September 1, 2010

Sea Colony Tennis Resort in Bethany Beach will host its first U.S. Tennis Association tournament to benefit the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25-26. The event is expected to draw up to 140 players from the tristate area.

Men’s and women’s 3.0-4.5 singles, doubles and mixed doubles players can sign up for the tournament by visiting seacolonytennis.net or by contacting Krista Burton at 539-4488.

Cost for the tournament is $26 per doubles player and $38.13 per singles player, with a percentage of the tournament fee benefiting the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). Tournament players must also be U.S. Tennis Association members and can join online for a fee. Entry registration closes Sunday, Sept. 19.

The tournament fee guarantees players two matches. Several special events will also take place throughout the tournament, including a lively beat the pro event as well as a target serving court.

Courtside refreshments will also be available. Players knocked out of the tournament early can participate in a happy hour round-robin right on site.

“Offering the tennis community the opportunity to play in a fun, friendly competition and to also give back to the greater good of the many people who suffer from these digestive diseases gives this event a superior purpose,” says Thomas Johnston, Sea Colony tennis director. “Sea Colony is proud to be hosting this worthwhile tournament.”
