John 'Buddy' Cohee, master plasterer

John P. “Buddy” Cohee, 64, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home Monday July 20, 2015.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served with the 173rd Airborne. Buddy was a master plasterer, affectionately known as a "mudd dog." He worked very hard, sometimes working six days a week until his retirement from K.B. Coldiron Co. Inc. He was a loving husband, father and son. He was also a very dear friend to many.

He was a member of American Legion Post 19, Rehoboth Beach VFW, and Elks Lodge 2173. He loved NASCAR, horse racing, loved to go out on the river on his boat, crabbing, and hanging out with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Henry Cohee Sr.

Buddy his survived by his wife Wanda Cohee; mother Virginia C. Cohee; daughters Johanna Cohee Hastings and her husband Ray, and Kelly Cohee; brother the Rev. Thomas Henry Cohee Jr. and his wife Monica; brother-in-law Jack Dayton and his wife Janet; sister-in-law Donna Steele; brother-in-law Ralph Floyd Dayton; grandchildren John Tyler Martin and Nicholas Thomas Cohee Hastings; nieces and nephews Kristy Dayton-Johnson, Lindsay Steele, Mark Dayton, Shawn Steele and Eric Dayton.

A funeral service will be held Friday July 24, at noon, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 11 a.m. A viewing will also be held the night before, Thursday July 23, from 6 to 8 pm. Interment will be in the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
