Vote now! Rehoboth Beach Patrol competes in GMA contest

Vote online for your favorite lifeguards
July 27, 2015

The Rehoboth Beach Patrol is known for a love of competition, and this time the lifeguards have taken that love to a television battle, with the public casting votes for its favorite lifeguards.

The patrol is a semifinalist in the “Good Morning America” Lifeguard Surf and Turf competition. Beach patrols across the country were asked to submit lip sync videos to Walk The Moon’s hit “Shut Up And Dance,” with the winner receiving a $10,000 prize.

Voting ends at noon, Tuesday, July 28 at https://gma.yahoo.com/-gma--lifeguard-surf---turf-showdown--vote-for-your-favorite-team-to-compete-for--10k-162753187.html.

The video shows the lifeguards dancing, crowd-surfing, swimming, training and pretending to be bowling pins. Cameo appearances were made by the Bandstand and, at the end, Capt. Kent Buckson.

In its entry submission, the patrol said it would use the prize money to build an observation deck.

The Rehoboth Beach Patrol is up against lifeguards from Long Island Beach, N.J.; Barton Springs Pool in Austin, Texas; Milwaukee County, Wisc.; and Gulf Shores, Ala.

At this point, the Rehoboth Beach Patrol has 13 percent of the vote, trailing leader Gulf Shores, Milwaukee County and Long Island Beach.
