August 2, 2015

The Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter was well represented at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference July 18 to 22 in Washington, D.C. Researchers, clinicians and chapter staff attended numerous sessions where the leading researchers shared their results.

Several articles have since appeared in the press including, Clinical Trial Results and New Data Analysis in Amyloid-Related Therapies, Researchers Looking for Ways to Predict Alzheimer’s Before it Starts, Women’s Brains Appear More Vulnerable to Alzheimer’s Than Men’s, and Growing Evidence Links Sleep Problems, Alzheimer’s.

In addition, more research funding is demanded as the generation of more than 76 million baby boomers turn 65 at a rate of more than 10,000 each day through Dec. 31, 2029. One person in nine who reaches the age of 65 will develop Alzheimer’s disease. By the age of 65, one woman in six will develop Alzheimer’s while only one man in 11 will. Every 67 seconds, someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s.
