ApologetiX Christian parody band to perform Sept. 12 in Lewes

August 26, 2015

ApologetiX, a Christian parody band from Pittsburgh, will return to perform at New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lewes at 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12.

For those who came to the show last year, or who have seen them anywhere else, one thing to admit is that these are immensely talented individuals. Each has toured worldwide with big-name bands. This isn’t somebody’s backyard band that is amateurish.

Secondly, they craft their lyrics with biblical excellence. A lot of music comes with bags full of heartache and memories that could best be forgotten. They are reclaiming this excellent music for Christ. There is no denying that Beethoven wrote beautiful music. But if he added lyrics, there would be an emotional association with those lyrics. The same applies to music today. For example, Boston and The Beatles created some fantastic artistry in their music. But the lyrics were unredeemed. ApologetiX retains the beauty of the musicianship and rewrites the lyrics for Christ.

Audience members might fool themselves into thinking that, as Christians, Christian music is all they listen to, but the secular music is there in every commercial jingle, movie and TV show they encounter. ApologetiX reclaims that music by writing new lyrics to it. If audiences buy their CDs and memorize those lyrics, they will redeem all of those tunes they already have in their heads. The band is legally able to do this because they pay royalties to the original authors. It’s completely legal.

And best of all, audience members can sing along to every toe-tapping tune because every word they sing will be up on the big screen, and audiences already know the tunes.

Tickets are priced at a suggested donation of $15. New Covenant Presbyterian Church is at 3072 Savannah Drive East, off Kings Highway, in Lewes. For more information, contact church secretary Jamie Shea at 302-644-6800 or go to www.ncpchurch.com.
