Rehoboth in running for happiest seaside town

Rehoboth Beach has been selected as one of 10 finalists selected by Coastal Living magazine as America's happiest coastal town.

Lovers of Rehoboth can vote at www.coastalliving.com/happytowns2016 and in the February issue of Coastal Living magazine, available on newsstands Friday, Jan. 8. Voting concludes at midnight, Pacific Standard Time, Monday, Jan. 25.

The winning town will be revealed on Coastal Living's website Tuesday, April 5 and featured in the May issue, to be released Friday, April 15.

Rehoboth is competing against Capitola, Calif., Fairhope, Ala., Hermosa Beach, Calif., Hilo, Hawaii.,Portland, Maine, Seaside, Ore.,Stuart, Fla., Sturgeon Bay, Wis. and Sullivan’s Island, S.C.

"After getting to know the small-town charms and the seaside magic of these communities, we are beyond excited to see which town wins the top spot to live in bliss by the sea,” said Coastal Living Editor Steele Marcoux. “From the beachside paradise of Hilo, Hawaii, to the historic waterfront of Portland, Maine, all 10 of these towns truly embody a special character.”

Ryan Mavity covers Milton and the court system. He is married to Rachel Swick Mavity and has two kids, Alex and Jane. Ryan started with the Cape Gazette all the way back in February 2007, previously covering the City of Rehoboth Beach. A native of Easton, Md. and graduate of Towson University, Ryan enjoys watching the Baltimore Ravens, Washington Capitals and Baltimore Orioles in his spare time.
