Nathalia 'Tollie' Johnson, loved to volunteer
Nathalia Emma "Tollie" Johnson passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at Cadia Rehabilitation Center in Dover.
Tollie, as she was lovingly known, was born in Dover, Dec. 29, 1920, daughter of the late Elmer T. and Eleanor (Wolthausen) Nelson. Tollie graduated from Dover High School in 1938 and married J. Allen Johnson March 1, 1942, to whom she was married 56 years before he passed away in 1998.
She worked at Mulco Products (The Spoon Mill) and Stevenson House. She was a member of Houston U.M. Church, the Red Hat Society, and both Harrington and Milford senior centers where she loved to volunteer. She also loved to read and play pinochle. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Allen; a son, Randall; a grandson, Gary Lane, and her brother, Theodore "Ted" Nelson.
Tollie is survived by two children, Douglas A. Johnson of Arlington, Va. and Nancy S. Lane of Dover; four grandchildren, Bobbie Morris and husband David of Milton, Monica Rollins and husband David of Lewes, Diane Johnson and husband Brian Cardarelli, of Monrovia, Md., and Nicholas Johnson, of Arlington; five great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be held privately.
