Groups, schools, businesses support Sussex food drive

At its Feb. 9 meeting, Sussex County Council presented plaques to groups that collected food and money during the 32nd annual Caroling on The Circle food drive.

Sussex County Administrator Todd Lawson said more than 23,500 food items and more than $6,300 in cash was collected. Over the past three decades, the county has collected more than 670,000 food items that have been distributed to county food pantries, food closets, shelters and organizations.

Taking part in the 2015 food drive were: Aloft AeroArchitects, 3,074 items, 48 turkeys and $2,000; Long Neck Elementary School, 2,622 items; Delaware Manufactured Homeowners Association, 2,561 items and 11 bags of clothing; First State Manufactured Housing Association, 2,502 items and $2,500; Millsboro Middle School, 2,452 items; Georgetown Elementary School, 2,405 items; Sussex County employees, 1,352 items; A.P. Croll and Son Inc., 1,000 items; Milton Elementary School, 650 items; Fuqua, Yori and Willard, P.A., 600 items and $500; Sussex County Council, 600 items and $500; H.O. Brittingham Elementary School, 500 items; Colonial East L.P., 480 items and $400; West Bay Homeowners Association, 480 items and $400; Sussex Academy, 307 items; Sussex County Association of Realtors, 300 items and $250; All-Span Inc., 240 items and $200; Georgetown Middle School, 200 items; and Little Einstein Preschool, 151 items.
