UNICO to collect food at Festa di San Giuseppe March 19

UNICO Delaware District 1 will sponsor its third annual Festa di San Giuseppe, in honor of St. Joseph, who looks after orphans, the poor, the homeless and downtrodden, after the 8:30 a.m. mass, Saturday, March 19, at St. Edmond Church in Rehoboth Beach.

At the traditional community gathering, fresh bread and groceries are collected, blessed and distributed to those in need. Father William Cocco will bless the donations, and UNICO members will distribute them to local food shelters.

Those who want to volunteer or donate nonperishable food items, or food shelters in Sussex County in need of supplies may email mtmbeach@comcast.net.

Those unable to attend, but who would like to contribute, may make donations at the church office on King Charles Avenue in Rehoboth before Friday, March 18, or by mailing a check made out to UNICO Delaware District 1 to 34688 Mainsail Court, Lewes, DE 19958.

Donations will be used to purchase groceries to be distributed along with the bread donated by Nicola Pizza and Old World Breads.

A zeppole sale will also be featured as part of the day’s celebration. These traditional homemade treats will be baked, not fried, and filled with special Italian ingredients. They will be for sale in the church hall for $2 each from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Pre-orders are requested at mtmbeach@comcast.net.
