Events This Weekend in Delaware and Maryland

August 17, 2022

It hasn't exactly felt like the hottest month of the year over the last few days, but the calendar does, in fact, show we still have a few weeks left in the Summer of 2022.

And that means a host of outdoor festivals and events still dominate the weekend calendars, many of which we're going to preview for you right now in our weekly "Weekender Blog."

This week's events are spread throughout the region, with headlining happenings taking place in Milford, Ocean City, Lewes, Middletown and more.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hippiefest (August 20)

What began a few years ago as a celebration of the anniversary of Woodstock has now become an annual tradition in the city of Milford, with the third annual Hippiefest taking place this Saturday, August 20, at the Causey Mansion.

Scheduled for 4 to 9 p.m., this year's event will be highlighted by the Lincoln City Band and DJ Dana McDonald of Forever Media, who will provide music from the 1960s and 1970s.

Organizers encourage attendees to dress in your favorite "hippie gear," such as tie-dye shirts, bell bottom jeans and hot pants.

You must be 18 or older to attend this event and BYOB is permitted in small coolers only.

Food trucks, alcoholic beverages and more will also be available.

Purchase tickets or learn more by calling 302-424-1080 or by visiting milforddemuseum.org.

Coastal Collectibles & Antique Show (August 20)

Scheduled for Saturday, August 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., this annual show benefits the educational and preservation programs at the Lewes Historical Society and is held at their location on Shipcarpenter Street in downtown Lewes.

Antique treasures, hard-to-find collectibles and more will be showcased in several different categories, including advertising, autographs, comic books, memorabilia, music, travel, sports, tools, vinyl records and several others.

There will also be live music, plenty of food choices and tours of the society's historic on-site buildings.

Admission to the 2022 show is $5 per person with children 12 and under admitted for free.
