If as scripture says God spoke the world into existence, words must have the supernatural power to create and direct reality.

John 1 says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”  
 
With Words God created the heavens and the earth; the universe and all that exists. And we, like little gods, speak our own reality into existence as well. 

Perhaps we should be more careful...

In recovery we look back at the destruction our words caused while using, and look forward to learning how affirming words build better lives for ourselves.

Words are very powerful. Where’d they come from?

God’s words of creation were spoken in Ancient Hebrew and represented by 22 symbols or pictographs that became Hebrew letters.  

The first two - Aleph and Bet are where we get our Alphabet. The Aleph (an ox) means strength, first, God; and Bet (a tent) means house or dwelling.   

Hebrew reads right to left so if you have an Aleph and a Bet, you can form a word from the first two letters. 
Aleph Bet translates to “the strength of the tent.”
The word sounded out is Ah for Aleph and Ba for Bet, or Abba - which means Father.  The strength of the tent is the father!

The Egyptians added over 1,000 pictures known as hieroglyphics; and Eastern nations like China continued with symbols called logograms.

“Logo” from Merriam Webster’s dictionary means: “The divine wisdom manifest in the creation, government, and redemption of the world and often identified with the second person of the Trinity” Father, SON, Holy spirit.’  
 Indeed, the Chinese language was developed as a series of symbols depicting the story of creation.  For example. the Chinese word for ship or vessel is a drawing that translates to 8 man boat. Eight people were saved by Noah’s Ark.

When the biblical Joseph was put in charge of the storehouses of Egypt by Pharaoh, he ignored their 1,000 plus written symbols and simplified the 22 Hebrew pictographs into what we know as Paleo Hebrew. The Paleo Hebrew has letters most easily recognizable within today’s English alphabet.    

Let’s look at another word from the letters Bet (our B / tent)  and Resh (our R / man)  - They spell out “Bar” which means son.  “The man coming out of the tent is the son.”   

Now start with Bar (Bet, Resh) = “Son”  and add an Aleph “God” 
This spells out Bara (Bet, Resh Aleph)  =  “The Son of God.”
Bara also means “Creator.”   “The Son of God is the creator!”

Colossians 1:16  “For by him all things were created that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.”     

Remember the first word - Aleph Bet  (Abba)?  The son of God - Bara - (creator God) chose to make the first two letters of the original language spell Father! 

........As we add to this word, the Aleph Bet continues to display supernatural design: God says I’ve told you the end from the beginning. 

 Isaiah 46:10.   “I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning..”  

The first word in the Hebrew bible, the Torah or the Old Testament is Barasheet - It translates to:

 “In the beginning.”   The Hebrew bible doesn’t use the Greek word “Genesis” for the first book of the Bible, the name of the first book is the same as the first word in the book, “Barasheet.”     

Now back to our word: 

After the Bet, Resh, Aleph (Bara) we come to the letter shin (looks like our W) and it makes the Sh sound.   This was a picture of teeth and it means to crush or destroy.    

Then add the Yud which is a hand (our Y),  followed by the Tov. Tov is the last letter of the Aleph Bet. (It’s our T).  It’s also a cross and it means covenant.    We now have BaraSheet - “The son of God is the creator who came to crush and destroy and by His own Hand, form a new covenant.”   

“I’ve told you the end from the beginning.”  The first word of scripture lays out God’s salvation plan for mankind!   Incredible.  

So Words are powerful.   What will you do with your words today?  Will you say a kind word to somebody?  It’s free! It costs you nothing and may mean everything to somebody who needs to hear it;  or will you criticize and judge?  

Again, we’re little god’s with the power to build up or crush and destroy.  A compliment, or little bit of praise can make somebody’s whole day, or that word of criticism can crush somebody’s spirit.
