Things to do This Weekend in Delaware and Maryland

August 31, 2022

It's hard to believe we're currently talking about things to do over Labor Day Weekend here at the Delaware and Maryland beaches and other towns and municipalities throughout the region.

I mean, wasn't it just Memorial Day a couple of weeks ago?

As far as annual festivals and events go, this weekend is a little quieter than most. But that's for good reason - it's a holiday and thus prime time for enjoying the weekend with friends and loved ones.

And it's good to have a little bit of a breather anyway as next week kicks off Fall Festival Season throughout the area, which means about 10 weeks of nonstop fun!

But that being said, we do have a few fun things to tell you about for the upcoming holiday weekend, most notably the annual jazz funeral in Bethany Beach.

If you've never been to this one, next Monday is a perfect time to check it out!

Keep reading below for much more on this and other great events and happenings over Labor Day Weekend 2022.

Have a fantastic holiday weekend everyone!

Bethany Beach Jazz Funeral (September 5)

It’s that time of year again when we say goodbye to the current summer and begin looking forward to the next traditional summer season at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

This family-friendly satirical event has been taking place for more than 35 years in Delaware's "Quiet Resort" of Bethany Beach.

The event begins with a “private wake” at 5 p.m., followed by a solemn procession down the Boardwalk at 5:30, led by the Dixie Cats, the Downtown Dixieland Band and the Jazz Funeral Irregulars.

Attendees are encouraged to get into the spirit by wearing black and preparing to say their goodbyes to the Summer of 2022.
