World Championship Skimboarding Event Takes Over Dewey Beach This Weekend
We've got a ton of great things to tell you about this week in towns and municipalities here at the Delaware and Maryland beaches, as well as other parts of Maryland and even a couple of events in southeastern Pennsylvania.
Dewey Beach is definitely the epicenter for this weekend's happenings with the 2021 edition of the Zap Amateur World Championships of Skimboarding taking place over three days.
This is always a fun event to watch and we encourage everyone to find a comfortable spot on the beach to check out these world class skimboarders.
Other events are taking place in Rehoboth Beach, Georgetown, Annapolis, greater Wilmington and more.

We begin, as mentioned, in Dewey Beach...
Zap Amateur World Championships of Skimboarding (August 13-15)
This signature event headlines the middle weekend of August and features three days of world class skimboarding in Dewey Beach.
The Summer Vibes Fest that usually accompanies this event is not being held in 2021 due to health concerns, but the competition in the surf continues.
Running now for around 40 years, this multi-day event attracts more than 100 of the world's top skimboarders to compete in Dewey Beach’s famous shore break.
This year's event also include a fundraiser at Ivy in Dewey Beach on Saturday, August 14, from 6 to 9 p.m., and includes music, art, food and various activities to raise money for Skim USA scholarships.

Poor Girls Open (August 12-14)
This year's Poor Girls Open kicks off on Thursday, August 12, and runs through Saturday, August 14, in Ocean City.
The event begins with a kickoff party at Fish Tales Bar and Grill on Thursday night, with a captain's meeting following at 7:30 p.m.
Events at the kickoff party include a 50-50 raffle, a silent auction and what promises to be an entertaining "Battle for the Bras" competition.
The fishing tournament will run for several days, with daily weigh-ins starting each day at 4 p.m., at Bahia Marina. More than 800 anglers are expected for the 2021 event.
The Poor Girls Open wraps up with a luncheon and awards banquet at Bahia Marina on Sunday afternoon, August 15.
