‘A New Motown Experience’ to rock Possum Hall Aug. 1-3

July 30, 2025

Possum Point Players announced “A New Motown Experience” fundraiser performances will take place from Friday to Sunday, Aug. 1 to 3, at Possum Hall, 441 Old Laurel Road, Georgetown.

Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday matinee starts at 2 p.m.

Motown sounds include exciting solos and ensemble harmonies, with songs ranging from the sweetly romantic “Treat Her Like a Lady” and the classic “My Girl,” to the gotta-get-up-and-dance numbers like “Dancing In the Street” and “Disco Inferno.”

Show Director Claudius Bowden Jr. of Georgetown and Music Director Christy Taylor of Milton assembled a cast of 11 singers to bring the familiar and always welcome Motown sound to Possum Point Players’ stage. Other Georgetown residents in the ensemble are Marques Clark, Lloyd Griffin and Andrew Showell. Cast members sharing the stage from more Delmarva communities are Lillian Blake, Salisbury, Md., Whitney Cook, Delmar; Kim Daniels, Lincoln; Howard Dashiel, Lewes, Chanelle Hopkins, Dover; Rosa Perdue, Berlin, Md.; and Steven Riddick, Milford. Philadelphia native Duane Jones is the emcee of “A New Motown Experience.”

Taylor said, “Music brings us together, music heals, and this is a time for us to come together to share and enjoy supporting our arts and music. And some rocking and clapping with Motown is a sure way to show and enjoy our support!”

Tickets for a variety of raffle prizes will be sold at the shows in-person only. To learn more, find the Possum Point Players group on Facebook and go to possumpointplayers.org.
