‘Unforced Errors’ author event set Jan. 4

January 1, 2026

Browseabout Books will host Robert Blaemire for a signing of his latest book, "Unforced Errors: 15 Bad Decisions That Changed American History,” from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 4, in Rehoboth Beach.

The book is about decisions made in politics or public policy that may be considered unwise, or bad decisions that had unintended negative consequences for the decision-maker. This will not include personal decisions like deciding who to marry or whether to get divorced, but rather to look at political and policy decisions that may be considered questionable. “Unforced Errors” lists 15 political calculations made by political figures, often at the pinnacle of their own success, which changed American history.

Blaemire has been a participant in politics all of his adult life. Born and raised in Indiana, he completed both his undergraduate degree in political science and master of legislative affairs degree at George Washington University. His employment with Sen. Birch Bayh, D-Ind., began in 1967 and concluded with Bayh’s election defeat in 1980.

Seeking to combat the growing role and influence of the New Right in political campaigns, he then founded The Committee for American Principles and began providing political computer services in 1982, before it was a business in politics as it is now. He owned his own firm for 17 years and left the business only to write a biography of Bayh, which was published in 2019.
